I believe in wearing lipstick

One of my favorite quotes from the ever classy, Audrey Hepburn:

"I believe in manicures. I believe in overdressing. I believe in primping at leisure and wearing lipstick. I believe in pink. I believe happy girls are the prettiest girls. I believe that tomorrow is another day, and... I believe in miracles."
-Audrey Hepburn

With that said, I am a huge fan of wearing lipstick. I used to feel timid about anything on my lips (Lip gloss always drove me nuts-my hair would always stick to it. Gross!), but there is something about putting on a coat of lipstick. I feel like a lady. My "go to" color is red, but I keep feeling bolder by the day and yearn to try more colors. What's your favorite?

MAC Russian Red Lipstick. My favorite!

DIY: Glitter Shoes

Pinterest has truly changed my life. No joke. I brought my sister down with me, and we have wholeheartedly committed our lives to crafting (well almost). This past weekend when I went over to Seattle, we busted out our craft skills (during the Bronco's playoff game and Miss America pageant, I might add!). Our result? We turned some drab shoes into something quite fabulous. The best part? It was super easy and cheap!
Too plain!
Watch out Dorothy!
I am now obsessed with modpodge! Someone might need to restrain me, because I have this overwhelming desire to add glitter to EVERYTHING!

To turn shoes into glitter shoes:
1. Clean area and lay down newspaper (this project can get messy)
2. Make sure shoes are clean
3. Paint the modpodge over shoes in section (Not too big or you will end up with a mess)
4. Sprinkle glitter over modpodge area
5. Repeat until entire shoe is covered
6. Let dry!

Pretty simple right? Now I just need this snow to go away so I can rock these babies.

Dreaming of Brighter Days

My lucky sister has a snow day in Seattle, WA. Lucky me, I am living on the east side of the state of Washington, and we are just now getting lots of snow (fingers crossed we get a snow day, highly unlikely though). Although I love the snow to a point- I am already dreaming of obtaining a few new spring pieces.
I love this peplum dress from Modcloth
Still obsessing over ballerina pink! I love these flats from Nordstrom's, they have a great spring vibe to them.

The bird print is going to be my go to print this spring. How adorable is this blouse from Old Navy (awesome price too!)

What trends are you excited to bust out this spring?

Feeling Dainty

My wardrobe is overrun by neutrals, so when I come across a color I feel that is worthy of treating as a neutral I go crazy. For about the past three years I have been obsessed with wearing all black with a bold color, and this color typically has ended up being red. What can I say? When I love something, I really commit to it. The color red and I have had a good run, but currently I have a new color in my life that I am obsessing over. This color is what I like to call ballerina pink! I feel feminine and dainty in it, but I can still pair it with all my neutrals. To me light pink is the best of both worlds, it has a neutral feel to it but in a refreshing, lady like way.
My sister rocking the ballerina pink
The lace top is actually a light pink, but it was really hard to edit it for the color to show up. Also the top is from my lovely sister-she knows me so well!
Clearly from the pictures above I need to work on my posing for pictures. The hand on the hip is sassy, but way over done.
What is your go to color?

Braids & Ink

Most people that are close to me, know that I have a terrible and unhealthy relationship with my hair. I absolutely hate it, because it simply takes forever to grow. This year I have declared war against my hair, and I am determined to get it ultra healthy and long! What tips do you have?

I found a wonderful blog that offers amazing tips on everything about hair! The blog is called Hairdresser on Fire  and I adore everything her blog! (Seriously! Check out all her Answers and Tutorials- I literally spent close to two hours going through them!) I was so excited to find her blog that I ended up doing a tutorial right away: Tutorial: Braid Headband- she is adorable to watch, and goes through the ENTIRE process!

My results:
Excuse the crappy iPhone picture (I really wish the front camera had a flash!), but here it is!
Another "thing" on my mind is tattoo fever. I know several of my friends that have just finished their amazing tattoos, and it is making me itch even more for another! I have two, but I am really craving an actual "piece". What I mean by that is I love all of my tattoo's, but I would like a more intricate work of art.
Sometimes I wish I had taken my time with a tattoo artist who specialized in words, but I really love this tattoo and the meaning.
How do you feel about getting inked?

New Camera, New Problems

Hello!
For Christmas my wonderful stepdad got me a new camera! (I was so surprised, and happy!) I am in love with it, but I am also confused and frustrated. I want to improve my photography skills and learn all there is to know about this marvelous gift, but I am having a hard time even knowing where to start. Here's a few picture's I took with my new best friend:
This little guy, Harley, is such a little cutie! Look at that smile.

My best friend and sister

Yeah....had to try out the self timer!  (sans makeup and in my Christmas jammies!)

The camera I got is supposedly called a "high bred" camera. Not quite the professional and super, spendy type, but definitely an up grade! What type of camera do you use, and do you have any tips for a newbie?

The Year of Blogging

2012 is finally here! I have a great feeling about this year, and I am determined to blog way more. I have a semester left at Gonzaga University, and I will finally be a college graduate! 2011 treated me pretty well, but I am excited for what is to come as a "real adult". Here's an update of what I have been up to during the months I have been gone from my blog:
My love affair of red and stripes has continued. *Big surprise*
Went to the fair, and was finally able to get a candy apple! I haven't had one of those since I lived in the South.
New York was amazing! I was able to go to the Teen Vogue Fashion University, and meet some of my idols-aka Whitney Port and Betsey Johnson!
The tree's at the Davenport Hotel never disappoints.
I am going to get on the ball this year with blogging. Some of my new year's resolutions are:
  1. Blog, blog, and blog
  2. Improve my photography skills
  3. Improve my eating habits (cook healthier meals) and work out more (yoga and cardio)

Sister's in Seattle

Hello!
This past weekend I visited my wonderful sister, Tegan, in Seattle, WA. Well technically Edmonds, WA but it all feels the same to me! My sister is my best friend, not only because she is my sister, but she is just a fun and amazingly kind person. We had a great time watching her boyfriend's baseball game, eating amazing Italian food (that was super cheap due to their fabulous happy hour menu) and snuggling in bed (Just kidding-Tegan hates snuggling, so it was more me snuggling with her PomChi, Harley).
Beautiful Seattle day's make perfect weather for watching some baseball!
Absolutely. Fantastic. Amazing. All describe their happy hour- gnocchi for $4.50 is OK in my book!
Sunset in Edmonds, WA- if you ever get a chance make sure you visit- it always feel so romantic, and lovely.
The beautiful newlywed!
First glass of wine I have ever ordered. Hello being an adult.
You haven't lived until you have had sushi on a conveyor belt.

Dreaming of Feeling Fancy

During the day I find myself day dreaming a lot. Maybe it's my love for reading and all things fairy tale, whatever the case I love looking at pictures that allow my imagination to run wild.

Le Love always has the cutest pictures that hit home with me <3
Love this Cruella De Ville pictorial in Vogue Italy. Black and white polka dots are my favorite.
Found so many great ideas at The Cupcake Blog
Can't you just feel the romance <3 (image found here)
Strange but so beautiful. Beauty and the Beast is a classic. (unknown source)

I Gave You All

My weekend was a very good one. Full of family, friends, and......lots of mud. I did a 10k race called the Dirty Dash. Check it out here: The World's Muddiest Race. Seriously, check it out! I had so much fun despite being forced to do this race by one of my friends. In the end I was absolutely covered in mud and exhausted, but still had an absolute ball. Here is my weekend in photos:
On Friday night I went to the Spokane raceway. It was fun, but oh boy the crowd was very interesting to say the least.
Two of my favorite necklaces I love to pair together. Turquoise makes me happy.
Honestly can you ever go wrong with leopard print?
The steak dinner my family and I had on Saturday. Cooked by my stepfather- he has saved us from eating out every night!
Before the race reppin' my team shirt. I haven't received my pictures back yet of what I looked like after, but I will post when I do. Definitely did not look anything like this.
This weekend was fun and dirty....just like I like it! What did you do this weekend? Hopefully it was as great as mine!

Bows With a Splash of Red

Hello! This summer in the Pacific Northwest has been extremely mild, despite the lack of record breaking temperature's I am still itching to wear fall trends.
Don't get me wrong I love summer clothes, but I find I get really tired after a   month of trying to pair an outfit that doesn't end up making me sweat. With fall and winter outfits I get to layer on classic pieces with fun, bold trends.

I have compiled my fall wish list. I realized the trends are kinda all over the place, but I am dying to find lady like pieces with a bit of bold staples (like bright red skinny jeans)!

What fall trends are you dying to get your hands on?Fall Wish List

Let it Sparkle

This past week was full of fun, birthday festivities. This girl (meaning me!) turned 21 and I am still alive! Over the past weekend I went over to Seattle to visit my sister, and celebrate my coming of age. She let me borrow this fabulous gold sequined shirt. Needless to say I brought the sparkle!
My big sister, Tegan. This girl adores anything bright and sparkly.
My birthday shoes (Steve Maddens) and a clutch my sister got for me. The clutch is this beautiful light pink with big jewels lining the top.
Bahama Momma drink at this cute Tiki theme bar in Edmonds, WA. Since we told everyone it was my birthday they felt the need to make my drinks extra strong.
My sisters college roommate, Emily, is always a good time. She also appreciates my love for cats!

Seriously this birthday was amazing, and full of wonderful friends and family. I am not a huge fan of my birthday and making a big fuss out of it, but it always makes me feel incredibly blessed to have such wonderful friends and family!

Not So Banging Bangs

Currently I am at war with my bangs. About a month ago I decided to take the plunge (again) and get blunt bangs. I really like the idea of blunt bangs, but in all honesty I just feel they are way too much of a pain to upkeep. I end up trying to trim them myself, and oh boy that is no fun. I end up having little hairs in my eyes, nose, etc. Just a mess to say the least.
Well, back to my ongoing war with my bangs. They are just all over the place, and in that annoying pre-grow out stage (Yes pre-grow out because I decided to trim them a couple days ago). As I wage on with this ongoing battle, I have had to become creative with my tactics for dealing with my pesky bangs. Hats, headbands, scarves are all my best friends right now. Here are some ideas for you if you are struggling like I am:

I love this bow headwrap that I got at Urban Outfitters. Those bangs don't even stand a chance to be seen.

I dare you to show me someone who doesn't look good in a fedora hat. Such a low key piece, and no annoying bangs in sight! Win.
I usually only wear this around the house when I am cleaning, but I still think its a cute way to hide those bangs.

When all else fails- grab your favorite team's baseball hat.
What are some styles you use to avoid having a bad hair day? Also any tips for controlling bangs? Thanks!

Flood of Flowers

Yup the flood has arrived! The flood of flowers that is, and I am not even going to complain one bit. This summer flowers are everywhere from glitzy, bold rings to prim dresses. I love everything about flowers, and to incorporate this into my wardrobe is my pleasure. Adding a floral print the right way can make an outfit go from blah to chic and lady like. Just make sure you don't over do the floral print, you don't want to end up looking like wallpaper.
